Style Tips for Busty Women

Frills and ruffles are IN for the Summer! I love dramatic clothing, so I”ve fallen in love with the puffy sleeves, exaggerated shoulders, and ruffled tops. My bust, however, feels differently. I’m not the hugest fan of my boobs, so I often like to keep them covered. Additionally, ruffles and embellishment don’t look the best on them. It only maximizes their size.

Post-baby, it’s been difficult adjusting my clothing choices to my small waist and disproportionately large bust. After spending some time adjusting, I have some tips that will flatter and minimize the appearance of your bust.

FIRST THINGS FIRST

I should start here: invest in a good bra! Sometimes it’s hard admitting that you need a specialty bra or you’ve gained weight and your bra size has gone up but your clothing will look better when you’re well supported. There’s nothing worse than big boobs that look like they were haphazardly thrown into a bra.

BALANCE OUT YOUR SHAPE

A styling trick I tell clients is bring the drama downstairs! If your body proportions are unbalanced, add volume to your bottom half to balance out your shape. Wide leg pants, Bootcut jeans, or a flared, A-line skirt are all great options! I hadn’t tried this trick myself until my bra size increased and I was tired of my boobs stealing the show, but I’m glad I did! The difference it makes is astounding.

SEAMLESS LINES

How many of you are tired of tops making you look sloppy? I am! A top can fit my shoulders and body but squeeze my boobs or expose my bra. A seam can hit the middle of my chest or the top can continually fall down. All big no nos and major annoyances. I’ve found that bodysuits will combat these problems and produce clean lines. There’s no excess fabric and no spillage.

Through my tips and tricks, I’ve adjusted the hot trend for the Summer to my body type. Wearing tiered ruffles on the bottom half better suited my busty shape. I absolutely love the unitard I bought from Pretty Little Thing because it serves as a base for so many looks plus it’s comfortable and flattering. This look is simple and chic. It’s perfect for business attire or a date night! Both occasions of which you should present yourself in the best light which includes flattering, well fitting clothes!
