Street style is all the rage! In recent years, there has been much more of a focus in magazines on what celebrities wear casually. Models seamlessly stomp from the runway to the pavement. And seeing what an attendee wears to Fashion Week is just as important as seeing what’s on the runway.
What seems only achievable for celebrities, models, and fashion enthusiasts can be achievable for you! Keep reading for tips on acquiring the laid-back, chic look!
FIND A STATEMENT PIECE
Street style is perfect for showcasing statement, on trend pieces. Choose one item to be the star of your ensemble and add complimentary pieces to support the look.
For example, your star piece is a bold printed, wide-leg trouser. The eye should go to the pants first because of its print and voluminous shape. Complimentary styling for this pant is minimalism. For a top, choose either a slinky cami or a boyfriend style tee tucked in. Wear a solid colored heel.
You can pile on trends if you so choose, but honing in on street style’s laid-back nature will call for an editing eye. Keep it simple! This will help to make the look chic. Some of my favorite looks appear as if they just happened to work together rather than be overworked and styled precisely.
Don’t feel the need to stick closely to common styling and trends. A successful street style look often features an individual flair. Add a personal touch to express a style only you can pull off!
KEEP IT CASUAL
Mix up and casual attire. Athleisure stems from wearing your “gym clothes” intentionally and adding glamor. Bring this style of clothing into your overall look: incorporate glamor into casual attire.
For my look, I chose a gold tutu as the star. I paired it with a camel sweater to enforce a monochromatic tone so not to pull focus. This provided the liberty of layering. I added a faux leather jacket in true Fall fashion. The flat shoes compliment the classic nature of the tutu. I would also a pair this with Moto boots for a grungier look (Mine are too ragged to display on the blog)
Finding a statement piece while keeping the look casual and effortless will get you well on the way to mastering street style. The end goal is to make a statement and be individualistic! Of course, don’t forget to find some inspiration and study!
