An Unforgettable Smile: Whitening Sensitive Teeth at Home

"Uncategorized"

I was once told to "keep smiling...It'll take you far." A smile can diminish opposition and unlock the key to your success. It is a valuable asset. Warmth in a smile is a rare quality that transforms people. I can think of times when the right smile has transformed me. Each time I step into new territory nervous about an endeavor that advice echoes in my head. I remember to flash a warm, genuine smile to make an impactful and transformative first impression. I've declared 2018 as the year of putting [your] best foot forward. I intend to live and make decisions with intention and vivacity. My first order of business is improving my networking skills. Because my smile is one of my best assets, I've decided that my recognizable smile should be elevated to…

Style Without Bounds

"Styling"

I pledge to alter my perception of what's "for me." We only believe something isn't for us because we declare it so. We shut ourselves off from expanding our experiences and worldview. We stifle our self-expression out of fear. I'll be the first to admit that I am afraid of color. Color is beautiful from an observational standpoint, but I am often apprehensive to incorporate bright colors into my ensembles. When I do, it feels very calculated and uncomfortable. I only decided to change my uniform of black, neutrals, cobalt blue, and white when I noticed a lack of inspiration and diversity. I would often blankly stare at my Instagram feed unmoved. I had contemplated permanently changing my wardrobe to contain only the aforementioned colors, but that would require consistency and certitude. I wasn't…

Geometric Dressing

"Styling"

Although I spend much of my time styling others and sharing styling tips, I come with a humble spirit. I have bad days where I hate my clothing, question my ability to style, and fight the urge to succumb to the "trendy" styles of the moment. It's an easy mindset to fall into when striving to be an authentic and original artist. Instead of allowing my thoughts to cloud my vision, I sit and reflect. I move consciously towards items I am inexplicably drawn to. Particular colors, fabrics, and styles stand out to me more than others. To deepen the discussion of this idea I'm going to take you on a journey of an abstract concept: Geometric dressing. I define this style as creating geometric silhouettes as well as pieces that are actual shapes…

Authentic Personal Style

"Styling"

"How do I know if I'm doing this style thing right?" You might ask. It's quite subjective but there are definite indicators that you are on the right track. What you first must identify is a problem. You feel like you have no style. Why might that be? What are you doing that you believe is getting in the way of you tapping into your personal style? Once you answer your questions and identify a problem, you can then find a solution. Let's walk through habits that inhibit us from connecting with the essence of our style. Learning about style won't come quick and easy. Though, meditating on and navigating through these first steps will provide an introduction. LYING Lying can occur unintentionally in regards to style. A lot of times we'll fawn over…

Holiday Looks

"Fashion"

The holidays have left as soon as they came. It's almost the new year! I'm grateful that I was able to see family and friends this year in good spirits. Of course, hanging out with them wouldn't be complete without me pulling out a few looks or two. Below I've featured three looks I wore this holiday season to appeal to different moods and different styles. THE ROMPER. I love a good romper! It complements my short torso and curvy frame perfectly. In this previous post, I shared how the romper shouldn't be limited to the Summer. It is a style that can adjust to *most seasons and is perfect for the bold and daring. For this Winter, pair a romper with boots and/or a leather jacket for added warmth. I wore this velvet…

Lazy Fashion

"Fashion"

The holiday season has begun! Your clothes have [probably] gotten tighter and laziness has set in. You need a break from the monotony of life and just want to cuddle and keep warm. At times this lull reflects in our clothing choices. The Fall/Winter season is notorious for oversized tops and chunky knitted sweaters. Our need to dress to impress either rises exponentially with festive wear or decreases significantly. Well, today, I am speaking to latter: the lazy, chill, and easygoing dresser. Oversized clothing is so comfy but it doesn't always look great on my small, curvy frame. To complement my figure and add definition to my waist I often belt shift dresses and loose tops. It's a quick and simple solution that instantly transforms a look. I find oversized Oxford shirts to be so…

Re-styling

"Styling"

Scenario: You wear a popping outfit and you're ready to show out. You do indeed show out, but you don't see anyone you know. Furthermore, you don't post the outfit on Instagram. Now, you can wear it again with no shame! Have you ever been anxious about someone calling out a repeat outfit? Social media has propelled us into believing that we shouldn't repeat outfits. We should spend an infinite amount of money on clothing and stay on top of trends. Repeating an outfit is not on my list of fashion faux pas. I don't have the money for that. If I love an outfit I put together, I'll wear it again but space out the time before wearing it again. For those of you who want to be more subtle and repeat only…

Styling Classic Pieces

"Styling"

Sydney's the name girly's the game. Okay, that was a little corny, but it's true! I just can't resist a girly, feminine look. I've been dabbling in more casual looks, so I decided to dress it up and go classic. If you're working to create more stylish looks, I would recommend classic styles. Classic silhouettes fit most body types and classic styles are the easiest to pull off. They won't go out of style. Flashy clothing items draw people in but there's nothing more chic than standing boldly and pristinely in a classic look. SILHOUETTE Because I am an hourglass shape, full skirts balance out my big bust and help to accentuate my shape. Every classic wardrobe should have an A-line skirt. It is incredibly versatile and timeless. This faux leather, midi length skirt…

The Jord Watch Influence

"Fashion"

This post is in partnership with Jord Watches I'm a procrastinator and unorganized. Managing my time has never been my strong suit. Now that I have a son, I've realized that my time is not my own. My world was flipped upside down when I had to spend all of my energy on caring for him. It was a rough adjustment. There's a belief that parents never have time for themselves; that's not entirely true. While I am often running around the house, thinking of three things at once, and planning ahead but I have taken control of my time. Recently, I've reflected on how much time is wasted throughout my day. It seems that once I get a breather I end up milking it for all its worth...which isn't very productive for a…

A Basic Guide to Successful Thrift Store Shopping

"Styling"

I love thrifting!...though it wasn't always that way. When my mom went thrifting as a kid I would be completely embarrassed and ashamed. I hated the smell and idea of buying clothes second hand. But one day I took a chance and gave it a try. I found the cutest screen tees and label clothing and was henceforth sold on second-hand shopping. As my interest in styling developed, I found it fun to find dated clothing and create modern looks. I love a challenge! I reveled in seeing questionable items and then turning it into a look. This charade isn't as fun and effortless to some, so I've created a guide to successful thrift shopping FAVORITE ITEMS TO PURCHASE AT THRIFT SHOPS Sweaters Pants Blazers Sweaters are essential for Ohio weather. Because many sweaters are…
